The word “satori” originates from Zen Buddhism, meaning a sudden moment of enlightenment or awakening. It does not refer to a final, achieved state, but rather to glimpses of clarity and insight discovered along the way.

With everything on our plates today, both professionally and personally, there’s often little space left to explore and work on ourselves. Ironically, being connected to your intuition is what brings authenticity and energy into everything you do.

My goal as a coach is to supportively push you to

  • think and act more intentionally

  • communicate clearly and effectively

  • realign with your purpose and vision

  • bring your whole self in and out of our sessions

The foundation of my coaching practice thoughtfully weaves together my training at the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI) with principles from eastern philosophy, psychology, and neuroscience.

If becoming your most grounded, centered, and best self at work and in the world piques your curiosity, I would love to connect.

My work as a coach is guided by a precise intuition about human nature. Unknowingly learning and practicing Buddhist fundamentals from a very young age, I see the world as an observer and witness. I am guided by a deep sense of purpose in finding and maintaining inner peace, both within myself and helping others do the same. I believe peace and love are synonymous. When we are at peace with ourselves and our truth, we are able to truly love ourselves and therefore approach all things with love.

When we feel connected to our true selves and are in acceptance of our nature, the things that used to zap us of energy no longer exist. I believe that the need to manage who we are between life/work and in front different people is the root cause of exhaustion and burnout.

I am the daughter of two immigrants from opposite ends of the world. One from South Korea, the other from the UK. I’ve never quite fit in anywhere so I had to find my own way. At a certain point in my relatively short life, I was close to reaching a point of burnout and confusion which led me back to my Buddhist upbringing. As a lifelong student of spirituality, consciousness, human nature, and the self, I was energized by what I was learning and equally by sharing my insights with others. Through managing conflicting cultural belief systems, I was able to discern what it is that I know to be true at my core. This grounding in self is what has motivated me to coach others, to help them connect to their true core.

There is a sense of relief in accepting people and situation as they are, not as we would like them to be. Through navigating complex social, emotional, and personal dynamics, I have been able to flow through the “grey” areas of life with a graciousness that absolves me from the undue burden often bestowed upon us.

How do I navigate? I had to learn through experience — experimenting, feeling, reflecting — and in sharing vulnerably out loud with others, I discovered that deeper learning often happens when we have a soundboard. Whether friends, colleagues, or even strangers, I had an uncanny way of creating safe spaces for people to share their inner most thoughts and make connections simply in my objective and caring presence.

What energizes me? Human psychology and interpersonal dynamics fascinate me. Understanding what motivates and what burdens people to help them get closer to their goals, and ultimately achieve them. I used to have dissonance with my career in sales in fast growth, high tech start ups. I have since realized that so long as I was able to maintain my integrity in what the company did, I was able to exercise the muscles that energized me, avoiding the infamous burnout of our times. I’ve been fortunate to work for companies with products that make a difference and push forward, while working alongside teams and leaders that have set the bar when it comes to "healthy” workplace culture. Getting clear and leading from my unwavering personal values, allowed me to develop my own unique sales style, resulting in success.

Another aspect that energizes me to my core is when my scope of perspective is shifts or expands, even more so when I can act as a prism, illuminating and adding color to others’ points of view. There are infinite ways to see the world and the more we can explore, the closer we get back to ourselves in the end. Ironically, in my opinion, growth really just means we have more agency to choose what is right for us, helping us narrow down and discern for ourselves. We must step back and expand in order to gain the perspective to find our center.

As we let our light shine we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”

What is Satori?

The concept of Satori roughly translates to “a sudden moment of enlightenment or awakening.” Originating from Zen Buddhism, it is a deeply personal experience that arises unexpectedly when we are tapped into our intuition. In other words, it’s when the light bulb goes off.

It’s important to know that the real work of coaching happens between sessions. During sessions, we work together to quiet the noise so you can consciously connect inward. There, you will access your innate wisdom to find clarity, purpose, and direction. This is also known as the “good stuff” that you will carry forward into every aspect of your life.

Whether you lead a company, team, community, and/or family, you are called to show up and share your presence with the world around you. We each stem from a diverse range of backgrounds and perspectives and branch out to different corners of the world. Therefore, there will never be a blueprint or bullet-point list that teaches us how to master leadership, only a courageous commitment to personal growth.

Some evoke Satori through mindfulness and meditation, others through reflection and self-inquiry. Regardless of the practice, the result is consistent — a profound grounding in one’s values and purpose. This empowers us to navigate any situation with ease and grace.

On leadership

Everywhere we look, whether in articles, podcasts, or best-selling books, the collective We is constantly in search of what we perceive as happiness. What we’re really looking for is inner peace, a quiet confidence with which to navigate life’s challenges and triumphs. That quiet confidence is undeniably one of the most attractive qualities a person can have because it is grounded in a peaceful yet unwavering energy that is palpable by others. There is something magnetic about a leader that does not need to proclaim his/her power and instead offers it to others versus demands it from them. This is true leadership.

On The “s” word

The word or concept of spirituality often turns people off. It’s not uncommon for this to be the case for many of my clients. While my own spiritual practice informs my way of being and has lead me to this fulfilling line of work in service of others, it is in no way a prerequisite for coaching or being coached. You do not need to have an ounce of interest in spirituality to grow, evolve, or be better. In fact, all I ask of you is to let go of any judgment or assumptions you have about what it means to be spiritual and you’ll be off to a great start.
